BEIRUT: Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said the Syria crisis has become bloodier since Moscow’s military intervention into the conflict by carrying out airstrikes against rebel groups and building up ground forces.

“The Russian military intervention in Syria has complicated things and turned [the crisis] bloodier,” Samir Geagea said in remarks posted to his party’s official website Tuesday.

Samir Geagea believed that if Moscow continued to defend Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime, “we could see qualitative weapons in the hands of the moderate Syrian opposition considering that many countries want to settle scores with Russia.”
